How to cancel your Klaviyo account

Learn how to cancel your subscription payments for email and profiles, SMS, or both, as well as how to close your Klaviyo account. 

If your email or SMS plan is simply too large or does not fit your current needs, you can instead downgrade your plan.

What's the difference between canceling and closing an account?

Canceling: 

  • Stops future payments, so you’re not billing after the current cycle. 
  • Keeps your account and data intact, allowing you access to your account in the future. 
  • Turns off any features in your account. 
    • Flows will stop sending.
    • Scheduled campaigns will be canceled
    • Sign-up forms will be set to draft and no longer show on your website. 

Closing your account:

  • Deletes all data within the account.
  • Removes all access to the account.

Before you begin

Before you cancel or close your account, note the following: 

  • Only account Owners or Admins can cancel an account or channel
  • This method does not apply to those who:
    • Are on a manually billed plan
    • Have a contract that is greater than 1 month

To check if you are manually billed, head to your Account Overview in Klaviyo. To cancel your subscription when being manually billed, please contact our Support team

Cancel your account

Note that these instructions only apply if you want to completely cancel your email and profiles, SMS, or all plans. 

  1. Navigate to Account & billing.
  2. At the top of the page, click Cancel Plan.
  3. Select the plan(s) you want to cancel.

  4. Click Continue
  5. Select the reason(s) you want to cancel, then click Continue.
    • If you selected a cost-related reason, you can either choose to downgrade to a free plan or continue to cancel. 
      • To downgrade, click Choose plan > Confirm
      • To cancel, click Continue in the upper right.
  6. Select when you want your plan to end: 
    1. At the end of the billing cycle (recommended)
      • Campaigns and flows will continue to send until the date listed as the last day of this billing cycle
      • Integrations will also work until the last day of the billing cycle
      • At the end of your billing cycle, you will no longer be able to send messages in Klaviyo and all integrations and future payments will be disabled
    2. Immediately
      • Note: Klaviyo will not issue a refund for the remainder of the billing cycle 
      • Your account will be closed immediately

        • Integrations and future payments will be disabled
        • Flows will be put into draft mode and no longer send
        • Scheduled and new campaigns will no longer send 
  7. Enter the account owner’s or admin’s email address to confirm. 
  8. Click Cancel Plan
  9. Click Exit

Optional: reactivate as a free account

After canceling your subscriptions, you still have the choice to reactivate as a free account. In doing so, you can regain access to many core Klaviyo features but will be restricted to a free plan’s sending limits rather than your original paid subscription.

Note that upon reactivating as a free account, you will still have access to your data from your former paid account.

  1. Navigate back to Account & billing > Billing
  2. Select either Create Your Plan 
  3.  For email, click View All Email Plans
    or
    For SMS, click View All SMS Plans
  4. At the bottom of the page, click Want to use the free Klaviyo plan?
  5. Reactivate as a free account
It’s important to note that you will need to turn flows back to live and re-schedule your campaigns once you reactivate your account back to a free subscription. Additionally, you may need to enable any ecommerce or third-party integration once you reactivate.

Close your account

Once you close your account, all data within the account will be deleted. Export any data you want to keep before you close your account. 

To permanently delete your account:

  1. Navigate to Account & billing.
  2. Follow the steps for paid or free plans: 
    • For paid plans: 
      1. At the top of the page, click Cancel Plan.
      2. Check Close account.
      3. Click Continue
    • For free plans: click Close account
  3. Select the reason(s) you want to cancel, then click Continue.
  4. Export any data you want to keep: 
    • Campaign analytics.
    • Flow analytics.
    • Profiles.
    • Templates.

  5. Click Continue
  6. Confirm the account owner’s or admin’s email address. 
  7. Click Close account.
  8. Select Exit account

You will be immediately logged out of your account, and it will be deleted.
