How Klaviyo Bills Customers for Emails

Klaviyo's billing structure is based on two criteria:

  1. The number of contacts in your account
  2. The number of emails you send during the month

Review Your Billing Plan

To review your billing plan, click the account dropdown in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. Select Account.


You will arrive at the Account Overview page, which displays information about your current plan, a summary of your usage, and any plan limits.


If you need to send to more contacts or want to view other available plans, click Upgrade Plan.

Alternatively, you can select the Billing dropdown and choose Email Plans.


Email and SMS are billed differently in Klaviyo. If you want to update your SMS plan, select SMS Plans instead. Head to our article on How Klaviyo Bills Customers for SMS for more information.

On the Email Plans page, you will be able to select a plan to accommodate for the amount of profiles in your account. When you find the plan that best suits your needs, select Change. Your account will update accordingly.


It is important to note that we do not provide refunds for downgrades, as outlined in our Terms of Service. When you downgrade, that change takes effect immediately and not at the end of the billing cycle. In addition, the prices outlined in the image above do not include sales tax.

If you would like your VAT number included on invoices, you must update this manually. Navigate to your Organization's Contact Information and add your VAT number to the second address field. All future invoices will then include this information.

Email Credit Card Details

Klaviyo does not support multiple credit cards in a single account. If you also use Klaviyo for SMS and either add to your balance or set automatic refills with a different card than the one in your account, this will charge the credit card on file. If your payment ever fails, the account owner will be alerted via email.
