Before you change your plan, note that downgrading does not take effect immediately. The payment downgrade, and decreased plan limits will go into effect as of your next billing cycle. Note that if you upgrade (manually or via auto-upgrade) before the downgrade takes effect, it effectively cancels the downgrade and you would need to request the downgrade again.
When you first purchase a subscription, auto-upgrade is toggled on by default. Your auto-upgrade preferences are also saved for future purchases; e.g., if you disable auto-upgrade during checkout, it will be toggled off the next time you change plans.
How are plan upgrades billed?
When you upgrade, you'll be charged the difference between your current plan and the new plan for the initial month, and then the full amount of the new plan in subsequent months.
For example, say that you're on a $100/month plan with 5K profiles and 50K emails, and you upgrade to a $140/month plan for an additional 1.5K profiles and 15K emails. In this case, you will pay $40 for the month of the upgrade. From then on, the monthly rate will be $140.
What if I have auto–upgrade enabled on my account?
If you have auto-upgrade, you will receive proactive email and account notifications when you reach 75%, 90%, and 95% of your plan limit. You will also be notified once you have been auto-upgraded after you’ve exceeded your original plan’s limits.
Changing your plan
There are a couple of different ways to change plans in Klaviyo. You can go through the Billing page to upgrade or downgrade, or upgrade plans directly via the Campaign Review page.
Whenever you change plans, your accounts stays at that plan until you either auto-upgrade or manually change plans again.
- Click your account name in the bottom left corner.
- Click Billing.
- Click Change plan.
- On the checkout page, click Edit for the plan you want to change.
- Select the plan you want from the dropdown.
- Note that auto-upgrade may be turned on by default.
- Click Confirm and Pay.
If you upgraded, this change will take effect immediately so that you can continue sending. Also, any review requests that did not send between when you hit your plan limits and when you upgraded will be sent out immediately after upgrading.
If you want the upgrade process to be automatic, you can enable auto-upgrade.
