You will learn
Learn about the different Klaviyo user roles, their account permissions and access, as well as their potential restrictions inside the platform.
Note only Owners and Admins can add new users to an account.
Available user roles
There are currently the following user roles:
An account can only have 1 Owner. Owners have full account access and can edit and close an account.
By default, the first person to create a Klaviyo account will be the account's Owner. Over time, they will receive important account notifications from Klaviyo, and can edit who in their company receives billing-related notifications.
Owners can also create private API keys and edit the Domain Authentication page.
Admins have full account access. An Admin can:
- Edit account details (such as updating payment plans)
- Add/delete users
- Cancel a paid subscription from billing again
Admins cannot fully close an account (e.g., disable an account and remove all users). However, the one exception to this rule is that they can cancel a paid subscription and close an account if they submit proof that the account Owner is no longer with their company.
Moreover, they can create private API keys, edit the Domain Authentication page, and edit who in their company receives billing-related notifications.
Managers have access to all core Klaviyo features, but with some limitations in Flows and Lists & Segments. They can also access some features in Account Settings, such as hosted pages. The tabs they have access to are:
- Account Settings, in which they can create private API keys and edit account details (such as change to any paid plan, Domain Authentication, hosted pages), but they cannot edit/delete account users, downgrade to a free plan, or cancel the account
- Dashboard, Profiles, Analytics, Signup Forms
- List & Segments, but they cannot export any active or suppressed email addresses from Klaviyo
- Flows, but they cannot export any recipient activity
Analysts have access to analytics, segments, and reporting. The tabs they have access to are:
- Dashboard, Profiles, Analytics, Lists & Segments
- Campaigns, view list of draft campaigns and details for sent campaigns
- Flows, but they can only view analytics, export analytics, and preview flow emails
- Signup Forms, but they will not have access to the Form Builder or A/B test setup, rather they can only see form analytics
Campaign Coordinators can create and send campaigns and create and edit templates. They can also edit the Domain Authentication page. The tabs they have access to are:
- Campaigns, Email Templates, Data Feeds, Coupons, Preference Pages
- Lists & Segments, but they can only view segment definitions or campaigns sent to specific lists or segments
- Flows, but they can only edit flow details (name and tag), edit email content, and preview flow emails
Content Creators can create and edit templates. The tabs they have access to are:
- Email Templates, Signup Forms, Data Feeds, Coupons, Preference Pages, Brand Library
- Campaigns, but only to view this tab; they can't schedule or send campaigns, edit templates, or see analytics from sent campaigns
- Lists & Segments, but they can only view segment definitions or campaigns sent to specific lists or segments
- Flows, but they can only edit flow details (name and tag), edit email content, and preview flow emails
- Signup Forms, but they cannot create or delete forms, see analytics, publish any changes, publish an A/B test, or publish changes to variants in a running test.
Support representatives have access to SMS conversations, which will be their default landing page upon logging into Klaviyo. The tabs they have access to are:
- SMS Conversations, in which they can view profile information and use the SMS Conversation chat console but cannot adjust SMS settings.
- Profiles, but they will have limited access to profile information. They can see the profile list view, profile details, activity feed, contact information, and channels.
- Brand Library, but they cannot upload or edit images and fonts.
