Learn how to change the communication and personal language settings for your Klaviyo account. Changing the language also updates the regional formatting (e.g., for numbers and dates).

Understanding communication language settings vs. personal language settings

Each Klaviyo account has 2 language settings:

  1. Communication language settings
    • Only account Owners and Admins can update this setting.
    • This setting applies to the account as a whole and is used for administrative communications (e.g., billing messages).
    • The account's communication setting does not affect the language you see within the Klaviyo application.
  2. Personal language settings
    • Each individual user within a Klaviyo account can set their personal language setting.
    • This setting determines the language you see in Klaviyo. It applies to all accounts you access and persists across browser sessions.
    • Emails (besides billing messages) sent from Klaviyo to individual recipients will be sent in their personal language selection.

When adding a new user to an account, Owners and Admins can select their personal language preference. This will be used in the invitation and onboarding process, although the new user can modify their personal language settings later, if needed.

Changing your Language and regional format settings will not automatically change your Time zone or Account currency settings. For instance, if you change from English US to Français, you’ll see the number $123, 345. 89 formatted as 123456, 89$; however, the default currency will not change from the US dollar to the Euro. Both Timezone and Account currency will remain in your account’s default selection, unless adjusted separately in Account settings.

This guide will cover how to change the communication and personal language settings for an account in Klaviyo. For instructions on how to change the language for a Portfolio, see Understanding your portfolio settings.

Change your communication language settings

Only account Owners and Admins can configure the organization language setting. To do so:

  1. Click on your account name in the bottom left corner of Klaviyo.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Account.
Settings interface with 'General' tab selected and 'Account' highlighted in the sub-menu.
  1. Scroll down to the Communication language and regional format section.

    • Italian (Italiano)
    • Korean (한국어)
    • Portuguese (Português)
    • Spanish (Spain) - (Español (España))

This change will apply immediately across all accounts you access. The Klaviyo Help Center is also available in each of these supported languages for guidance while navigating the platform.

Navigating Klaviyo in a new language

When you set a new personal language, most elements of the Klaviyo platform will translate. However, some will remain in English. Here's what you can expect:

What translates to your personal language settings

  • All pages and page elements within the Klaviyo application (e.g., headings, buttons, subtext, etc.)
  • The subject line assistant
  • Regional formatting for data, including:
    • Date
    • Time
    • Timezone; this only refers to how the timezone is formatted.
    • Number
    • Currency; this only refers to how currency is formatted, such as spacing and separators in currency values (e.g., decimal points or commas).
    • Percentage
  • Account alerts on the Klaviyo Homepage
  • Event and metric name (e.g., Placed Order)

Email support and our Virtual assistant are available for each of the supported languages. Learn how to contact support.

What remains in English

  • Flows and segmentation AI
  • Nearly all pre-built templates within each content library (e.g., campaign templates, flow templates, form templates, etc.). Note that some translated templates are available in French only.
  • Any form or message content initially written in English or another language
  • Dynamic variables (e.g., unsubscribe tags like {% unsubscribe %} )
  • Time zone and Account currency settings will not change automatically when you set a new language. Only how they're formatted adjusts based on the selected language.
