Edit your display name in Meta

Follow these steps to update your display name.

  1. Open Meta Business Manager and select your business.
  2. Navigate to WhatsApp Manager.
  3. Go to Account tools > Phone numbers > Profile.
  4. Enter your new display name.
  5. Submit your name for review.

Meta typically reviews display names within a few days.

What your display name must include

Your display name must:

  • Represent your business, product, service, or department
  • Match your external branding
  • Clearly relate to your legal business name
  • Contain at least 3 characters
  • Follow WhatsApp Commerce and Business policies

What your display name cannot include

Your display name must not:

  • Use all caps unless it matches your branding
  • Include emojis or special symbols
  • Contain unnecessary extra words
  • Be formatted as a URL
  • Include “Official” or “Verified”
  • Reference Meta product names
  • Be a generic term or location alone

What happens after you submit

After submission, Meta reviews your display name and assigns a status:

  • Approved
  • Rejected
  • Under review

Your display name becomes visible when:

  • Your Meta Business Portfolio is verified, or
  • You reach at least 2,000 daily business-initiated conversations

Troubleshooting

My display name was rejected

Common reasons:

  • Does not match website branding
  • Language mismatch
  • Formatting issues

To fix this:

  1. Match your display name to your website.
  2. Update your site if needed.
  3. Resubmit in Meta.

My display name is approved, but customers still see my phone number

Your account has not met visibility requirements.

You need:

  • A verified Meta Business Portfolio, or
  • At least 2,000 daily business-initiated conversations

I want the blue checkmark (Official Business Account)

Your display name must be approved first.

Fix any issues, then apply in WhatsApp Manager.
