Testing Customer Hub with real customers lets you try it out on part of your traffic before you roll it out to everyone. You choose the percentage of your visitors who see Customer Hub, and Klaviyo reports on engagement and revenue for the shoppers included in the test, so you can see how Hub performs and decide when to go live for everyone.

How testing works

When you start a test, you choose the percentage of your site visitors who see Customer Hub. Visitors fall into one of two groups:

  • Included in the test – shoppers who see Customer Hub as usual. Your results report on these shoppers.
  • Not included in the test – shoppers who don't see Customer Hub during the test. They aren't part of your results.

The test applies to both anonymous and identified visitors. Klaviyo remembers which group each shopper belongs to, so they get a consistent experience for the length of the test. You can run one test at a time, and the test applies to Customer Hub as a whole rather than to individual content blocks.

Before you begin

  • Customer Hub is set up and you've added the content and features you want shoppers to see.
  • Your site gets enough traffic to give you meaningful data from the shoppers included in your test.

Set up a test

  1. Go to Customer Hub > Design > Edit your Hub.
  2. Open Visibility controls on the left-hand navigation and create a new test.
  3. Name your test so you can recognize it later.
  4. Use the traffic slider to set the percentage of visitors who will see Customer Hub, from 0% to 100%. Everyone else doesn't see Hub for the length of the test.
  5. (Optional) Set how long you want the test to run.
  6. Review your settings and start the test. If Customer Hub is currently hidden, starting a test sets it to Live, and you're asked to confirm first.

View your results

Test results work the same way as the rest of your Customer Hub data. Go to Customer Hub and select Overview to see the same metrics and sections as always, such as revenue, service interactions, average order value, and content block performance. Because only the shoppers included in your test see Customer Hub, the dashboard reflects activity from those shoppers. To learn what each section shows, see Understanding the Customer Hub overview dashboard.

Use the Time period selector to choose the date range you want to see, just as you would at any other time.

What happens when your test ends

When the schedule is complete, Customer Hub returns to your general visibility setting. Because starting a test sets Hub to Live, Hub will show for all shoppers unless you change your visibility setting before the test ends.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I set Customer Hub to Hidden during a test?

Setting Customer Hub to Hidden ends the test. Klaviyo asks you to confirm before it does.

Will a shopper always see the same experience?

Mostly. Klaviyo assigns anonymous visitors using a browser cookie, so a shopper who clears their cookies or switches devices before they've been identified might be assigned again. Once a shopper is identified, their assignment stays consistent.

Can I test individual content blocks?

Not yet. Tests control whether shoppers see Customer Hub as a whole, not what's inside it.
