How to display Shopify store credit in Customer Hub
Customer Hub can show shoppers their Shopify store credit balance, so they know exactly what they have to spend and have a reason to come back and use it. Store credit is the balance a shopper receives when, for example, they return an item for credit instead of a refund. You don't need a custom integration or a developer to display it.
Before you begin
Before you set up store credit, make sure that:
- Customer Hub is enabled in Klaviyo and connected to your Shopify store.
- You can approve updated permissions for Klaviyo in Shopify. Klaviyo needs additional access to read store credit balances, and you'll be prompted to approve it during setup.
Set up store credit in Customer Hub
- Go to Customer Hub > Design > Edit your Hub.
- Click Add content. Under Integrations, select Shopify store credit.
- If prompted, approve the updated Shopify permissions. Klaviyo starts this request for you. Store credit balances won't appear in Customer Hub until you approve it.
- Customize how store credit looks in the Hub Editor, just like any other part of your Hub.
- Click Save. When Customer Hub is live, saved changes apply immediately to your storefront.
What shoppers see
Shoppers can see their available store credit on the Profile tab of Customer Hub. The display is fully customizable in the Hub Editor, so you can match it to your brand.
Turn store credit on or off
You can enable or disable store credit at any time from your Customer Hub settings. Turning it off hides store credit from shoppers without affecting their balance in Shopify.
Frequently asked questions
Does this show gift card balances?
No. This feature displays Shopify store credit only. In Shopify, gift cards and store credit are separate: store credit is a reloadable balance tied to a customer's account, while a gift card is redeemed with a code and isn't always linked to a customer. Gift card balances aren't shown in Customer Hub.
Why isn't a shopper's store credit showing?
Check the following:
- You've approved the updated Shopify permissions for Klaviyo.
- Store credit is turned on in your Customer Hub settings.
- The shopper is signed in and has a store credit balance in Shopify.
Can shoppers use their store credit at checkout?
Yes. Store credit is applied at checkout by Shopify. Shopify only lets shoppers redeem store credit when they're signed in to their account with Shopify's new customer accounts.
I use a third-party store credit or loyalty app. Can I still show balances?
This feature reads Shopify's built-in store credit. If your app syncs a balance to a Klaviyo profile property, you can still show it by using a custom content block.
