Understanding auto-monitors in Klaviyo

Learn about auto-monitors in Klaviyo. Klaviyo automatically monitors your account performance for anomalies with key objects such as flows and campaigns. This allows you to quickly identify and resolve performance issues before they have larger implications.

Before you begin

Auto monitors are created automatically, so you do not need to configure alert rules. If you are an Advanced KDP customer, you also have access to the custom monitors functionality.

Available auto monitors

Klaviyo automatically monitors the following objects in your account to alert you about the following performance issues:

• Flow trigger
  Anomalies in the number of events for a metric that triggers a live flow (i.e., a drop in activity for that metric). This measures metric activity, not the number of profiles that enter the flow.
• Flow messages
  Anomalies in the number of messages delivered by a live flow (i.e., a drop in email, SMS, or push notification deliveries).
• Campaign deliverability
  Anomalies in email campaign bounce rates for each inbox provider (e.g., Gmail and Yahoo). Note that only bounces due to content or reputation issues are monitored.

Email campaign deliverability monitoring requires an account more than 30 days old, more than 55,000 active profiles, and more than 10 sent email campaigns.

Monitor alerts

To view your auto-monitors, open your account menu in the bottom-left corner, then select Settings > Monitors.

Monitors list

On the main Monitors page, you’ll see a list view of your existing auto-monitors. Next to each auto-monitor, you’ll see the following information:

• Monitor name
  The name of the flow or campaign being monitored.
• Status
  The status of the auto-monitor. These can be:
  • Active
    The monitor is enabled and an alert was not triggered during the previous check.
  • Alert
    The monitor is enabled and an alert was triggered during the previous check. The Monitors page shows the next scheduled check.
    
    
• Monitor type
  The monitor type: Flow trigger, Flow messages, or Campaign deliverability.
• Alert rule
  A preview of the alert rule for the monitor. This shows the metric being monitored and whether an unexpected drop in activity or a campaign deliverability issue was detected.
• Notifications
  Notifications for auto-monitors are always enabled.

Monitor summary

If you click into a monitor on the list view, you will be brought to the Monitor summary, where you can find more information about the monitor. You’ll see:

• Description of key information
  A summary of the key details of the monitor.
• Metric preview
  For Flow trigger and Flow messages monitors, a preview of the metric over time that can be grouped by day, week, or month. Campaign deliverability monitors do not have a metric preview.
• Alert log
  A timeline of the most recent alerts created by your monitor. This section appears once the monitor has alerts.

For a Flow trigger or Flow messages monitor in Alert status, select Troubleshooting guide in the Summary section for help investigating the issue.

Alert log

On the Monitors page, select the Alert log button to view alerts triggered by your auto-monitors.

Here, you can see a timeline of the alerts that were triggered for your auto-monitors. If you expand an event on the alert log timeline, you can see more information about the alert, including:

• The Klaviyo object with the anomaly that triggered the alert
• The associated metric
• The rule that was broken resulting in the alert

Notifications

By default, the Owner, Admin, Manager, and Analyst user roles will receive notifications on Klaviyo’s home page.

For Flow trigger and Campaign deliverability alerts, the account Owner, Admin, and Manager roles also receive email notifications. Flow messages alerts use in-app notifications only.
