Within Klaviyo, your account Owner has the ability to cancel your subscription payments and end service for Klaviyo’s email and SMS channels. In this article, you will find step-by-step instructions on how to cancel your subscription or discontinue one channel in Klaviyo. Cancelling your subscription will not close or delete your Klaviyo account.
Please note that you cannot cancel in this way if you are on a manually billed plan or have a contract with Klaviyo that is greater than one month. To check if you are manually billed, head to your Account Overview in Klaviyo. To cancel your subscription when being manually billed, please contact our Support team.
Before Jumping In
Before you make any changes to your subscriptions, we recommend checking out the following resources, which can help you get the most out of using Klaviyo. As our users tell us, sometimes a few key settings or a single strategy can be a total game-changer. These six resources can help you transform your growth with the tools that are already at your fingertips.
- Getting Started with Klaviyo
- Guide to Email Deliverability
- Developing a Content Calendar
- Creating an Abandoned Cart Flow
- Guide to List Cleaning
- Advanced Targeting Webinar
As you proceed to cancelling your Klaviyo subscriptions, we recommend that you also reference our article on Migrating Off of Klaviyo. This resource will explain how to properly turn off Klaviyo features that you no longer need as well as transfer key data to your next service provider (if applicable).
Cancelling Your Account
To cancel your Klaviyo account, first click into the account dropdown in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. Then, select Account.
From your Account page, navigate to Billing > Billing Preferences.
Under Plan Overview, select Manage Subscriptions.
You will be directed to a page where you can cancel your email and/or SMS subscription. If you want to change your email plan rather than cancel, click Email billing page. To modify your SMS subscription instead of canceling, click SMS billing page. In either case, you will be taken to the corresponding page in Klaviyo where you can update your plans to best reflect your business needs.
Otherwise, under Cancel my subscription(s), choose the exact subscription you would like to cancel. You can cancel your email subscription, SMS subscription, or both.
Select the option that matches your desired change and click Continue.
Once you decide to cancel, Klaviyo will ask you to select a reason for cancelling; select all that apply. You can also supply optional feedback in the box labeled What else could we do to improve. Then, click Continue.
Next, Klaviyo will populate a handful of resources that may help with any problem you are experiencing. If you wish to return to your account instead of cancelling to try out these strategies or tactical instructions, click into a resource or Back to Overview. If you wish to proceed with cancelling, select Continue.
When you continue, you will be prompted to review your cancellation request. Under When should we cancel your Klaviyo subscription?, select one of the following options:
- At the end of my billing cycle
Your account will remain active and any campaigns and flows will continue sending up until the date listed as the last day of this cycle. All integrations and future payments will be disabled at the end of your billing cycle. At the end of your billing cycle you will no longer be able to send messages in Klaviyo. We recommend this option in order to get the most out of this month's subscription.
Your account will be closed immediately. You will not be able to send messages in Klaviyo, and all integrations and payments will be immediately disabled. No refunds will be issued for any remainder of the billing period.
Regardless of the option you choose, your account will remain subject to the Klaviyo Terms of Service.
After carefully reading these options and selecting when your cancellation will go into effect, click the box next to I understand how cancelling will impact my subscription. Then click Cancel My Klaviyo Subscription.
You will then receive a message confirming that your subscription has been cancelled. Depending on when your plan is scheduled to end, we will offer you up to three updates and next steps to proceed with.
How to Reactivate as a Free Account
After canceling your subscriptions, you still have the choice to reactivate as a free account. In doing so, you can regain access to many core Klaviyo features but will be restricted to a free plan’s sending limits rather than your original paid subscription.
Note that upon reactivating as a free account, you will still have access to your data from your former paid account.
To reactivate as a free account, navigate back to Account > Billing > Billing Preferences. At the bottom of this page you will see a box where you can reactivate your Klaviyo subscription. To do so, click the link labeled reactivate your Klaviyo account here.
When you reactivate your subscription, you will be directed to your Account Overview page where you can update your plan to reflect your desired subscription level or reactivate as a free account at the bottom.
