You will learn

Learn what Klaviyo's guided setup creates in your account, in what order, and how to pick up where you left off. You will know exactly what is live when setup finishes.

Before you begin

Requirements: Guided setup starts automatically after you create your account inside Wix. If you have not installed the app yet, start with Getting started with Klaviyo in Wix.

The 3 setup steps

Guided setup builds the core loop that turns site visitors into subscribers and subscribers into customers. You will create these items in order:

  1. Sign-up form. Adjust the content and click Use this form. This publishes the form, and subscribers it collects join your list. The form appears on your site when your site if it is published.
  2. Welcome email. Composer, the AI assistant in the app, drafts a welcome email styled with your site's branding. Click Edit email to adjust the content, then click Turn on flow. This creates and activates an automation that emails new subscribers who join your list.
  3. Abandoned checkout email. Composer drafts an abandoned checkout email. Click Edit email to adjust the content, then click Turn on flow. This creates and activates an automation that emails shoppers who start a checkout but do not place an order within a set time.

Note: If Klaviyo saves an email but cannot set the automation live, it stays in draft and you see an error message. On the dashboard, find it in Automations, open its row menu, and select Enable.

When you finish the last step, you see a Setup complete! celebration and land on your dashboard.

Note: Guided setup does not include campaigns. You can create campaigns any time from the dashboard once setup is done.

Leave and resume setup

Completed steps stay saved when you close the app or reload the page. When you return, guided setup resumes at the first unfinished step that you have not skipped. Klaviyo records a step as complete after its form is published or its automation is live.

To skip a step, click Skip for now. Klaviyo saves a skipped email as a draft. You can finish it later from your dashboard.

On the dashboard, select an unfinished task under Make the most of your account. If you skipped all 3 steps, select Continue onboarding to resume with the sign-up form.

Note: Completed steps stay completed. If you later delete the form or an automation that setup created, setup does not restart, and the app does not recreate them automatically. You can always create a new form or automation yourself from the dashboard.

What the setup emails do by default

  • The welcome email sends when someone joins your list through your form. If the list uses double opt-in, they must confirm their subscription first.
  • The abandoned checkout email goes to shoppers who start a checkout but do not place an order. Klaviyo receives the Abandoned Checkout event 1 hour after a logged-in shopper, or a shopper who entered an email, leaves checkout. The flow preview shows the exact wait time before you turn the automation on.
  • Both emails use your account's default sender details. For new accounts, the From name uses your company name, and the From email uses your Wix site owner email. To change these values, update your settings in klaviyo.com (more details here).

Note: Contacts from your existing Wix history do not receive the welcome email. Only new sign-ups trigger it.
