Record creator consent and use social UGC
Premium feature. Available on the paid Klaviyo Social Marketing plan with Facebook Login.
User-generated content (UGC) consistently outperforms brand-created content. This feature for UGC consent & reuse lets you record in Klaviyo that you have received a creator's permission to reuse a piece of their content, then seamlessly use that content in your owned channels like Email, Text, and Forms.
This article covers how to record consent on a piece of UGC, find consented content, use it in your marketing, and revoke consent.
Plan and access
You need the paid Klaviyo Social Marketing plan with a Facebook Login connection. See the Use the Social Content Library article for details on how access works across authentication types.
Consent is recorded at the content level. Each piece of content is consented individually.
Record consent
Before you record consent, make sure you have obtained permission from the creator through your own process. Klaviyo stores the record of your consent but does not collect consent from the creator on your behalf.
- In Klaviyo, open Social in the left navigation and select Social content.
- On the User-generated tab, open the piece of content you want to reuse.
- In the detail view, select the Permissions tab.
- Select Record consent.
- Review the confirmation message, then confirm you have permission to reuse this content.
Once recorded, the content shows a Consent recorded status and becomes available to use in your marketing. It can take up to about 1 minute for the content to appear in the media picker.
Link a creator profile
Consent is stored on the creator's Klaviyo profile. If the content is not yet tied to a profile, Klaviyo prompts you to connect one during the consent flow.
- If a matching profile already exists, Klaviyo shows you which profile it is.
- If no profile exists, provide the creator's email or phone number so Klaviyo can create a profile for them. Once the profile exists, you can record consent.

Find consented content
Consented UGC is available in two places:
- Social Content Library. On the User-generated tab, filter and sort to see which content has consent recorded.
- Media picker. In the Email, SMS, Forms and other editors, consented UGC appears in the media picker, clearly distinguished from your owned content, so you can tell UGC apart at a glance.
Use consented content in your marketing
Once content has consent recorded, you can select it from the media picker and embed it directly in your:
- Email campaigns and flows
- SMS campaigns and flows
- Forms
- And more
The content behaves like any other asset in the editor. For more information on using Social UGC, visit this help article: Use your social content in campaigns, flows, and sign-up forms

Revoke consent
You can remove consent from a piece of content at any time, for example if a creator withdraws permission or you no longer want to use the content.
- Open the content and go to the Permissions tab.
- Select Revoke consent.
- Review the confirmation message explaining that revoking will remove the content from all of your marketing assets, then confirm.
When you revoke consent, Klaviyo removes the content from the media picker and permanently deletes the underlying file. Content that was already sent in a past campaign or flow message is not changed.
Things to know
- Consent is recorded at the content level. Creator-level consent, where all content from a creator is approved at once, is not available today.
- Klaviyo stores your record of consent but does not collect consent from the creator. You are responsible for obtaining permission before recording it.
- Revoking consent is permanent for that asset. If you want to reuse the content later, you will need to record consent again.
