What is an Organization
An Organization is a top-level account type that sits above your existing Klaviyo accounts. It lets you link multiple brand accounts together under one umbrella so you can manage them centrally, without merging or replacing anything at the account level.
Profiles, consent, and settings still live at the account level as the source of truth. Organizations doesn't create a new profile or a new source of truth. What it adds is recognition. If the same customer exists across two or more of your linked brand accounts, the Organization layer recognizes that it's one person and gives you a single place to see and act on that relationship, instead of separate, disconnected pictures of the same customer in each account.
Why would you create an organization?
Without an Organization, managing multiple brand accounts comes with a hidden cost:
- Operational overhead: every admin task (adding a user, updating a template, changing a security setting) has to be repeated manually on every account. For a business with 5 accounts, that's 5x the work for every task.
- Fragmented visibility: there's no single place to see how your whole brand portfolio is performing. Leadership has to log into each account individually, export data manually, and stitch it together to answer basic questions like total send volume.
- Data friction: a customer who's a subscriber on one brand account looks like a stranger on another, with no native way to recognize them as the same person, target them across brands, or build cross-sell campaigns.
