Using Videos in Mobile Messages
This article provides an overview of how to manage and send video content within your mobile messaging channels, including WhatsApp, RCS, MMS, and Push.
The media library
To better accommodate video content, the "Images & brand" section of Klaviyo has been renamed to Media & brand.
Uploading and managing videos
You can upload MP4 and MPEG files directly to your library.
- File size limit: Individual video uploads are capped at 10 MB.
- Navigate to Content > Media & brand and select Videos.
- Click Upload media.
- Choose a file from your computer or drag it into the upload area. If Select upload version appears, click Upload. When the upload finishes, the video will appear in the Videos tab.
- Organization: Use the Images and Videos tabs in Media & brand to switch between your image and video libraries.
- Thumbnails: Klaviyo automatically generates a thumbnail for uploaded videos.
- Clicking a thumbnail in the library opens a preview tab with full playback controls.
Adding videos to mobile messages
You can attach videos to messages within the editor for WhatsApp, RCS rich cards, MMS, and push notifications. For MMS, direct uploads must be 600 KB or smaller. To add a video from the message editor:
- Click Select media in the message’s media attachment area.
- Choose a video using either option:
- Video library: Find your video and click Select beside it.
- Upload media: Choose a video from your computer or drag it into the upload area. If Select upload version appears, click Upload.
After selection or upload, the media picker closes and the video appears in the editor. Save your message or template when you’ve finished editing.
Channel-specific requirements

Push | Videos and animated GIFs are supported on iOS devices. On Android, a video notification is sent without the video, and a GIF appears as a static image. | Video files attached cannot exceed 10 MB. |
Important considerations
- MMS file sizes: If a video in an MMS exceeds 600 KB, a warning banner will appear in the editor. Larger files may be subject to carrier limitations or compression.
- Email editor: You cannot attach uploaded video files to emails, and the email image picker does not show Video library. To share a video by email, use a Video block that links a thumbnail image to a hosted video. Learn how to share video content in an email.
- Image Remix: You cannot use videos with the Image Remix tool.
- Compression: Videos are currently exempt from Klaviyo’s automatic image compression settings and will be handled similarly to GIFs.
