How to sync reviews between Shop and Klaviyo

Learn how to sync reviews from the Shop app to Klaviyo. After syncing these reviews, they will appear on your site in Klaviyo’s reviews widgets, and Klaviyo reviews will appear in the Shop app.

Shop is Shopify’s consumer-facing shopping app. If you use Shopify, you can sell products and collect reviews through the Shop app. If someone buys something from your store (either online or using the Shop app), they can leave a review for you in the app. Without syndication, reviews left in the Shop app only appear in the app, not on your online storefront.

Sync Shop reviews to Klaviyo 

  1. Navigate to the Reviews tab. 
  2. Select Reviews settings
  3. Select Syndication
  4. Under Shopify, toggle on the Shop option to enable Shop syndication.
  5. You may see a modal with a banner indicating that Klaviyo needs additional data access in Shopify. If so: 
    1. Click Continue in Shopify.
    2. Once you’ve been redirected to Shopify, click Update
    3. Once you do, you’ll be redirected back to Klaviyo. 
  6. In the About Shop syndication modal, click Confirm
  7. In your reviews syndication settings, Shop syndication will be marked as Pending. The syndication may take several minutes or longer to activate. After that point, reviews will be synced on an ongoing basis.

It can take up to 24 hours for reviews submitted via Shop to appear in Klaviyo, and vice versa. You cannot moderate or reply to Shop reviews in Klaviyo. Learn how to manage Shop reviews

Reviews synced from Shop will appear in your reviews widgets with a Verified by Shop badge. You can select a different color for this badge after the Updates sent continuously message appears in your Shop syndication settings. 

To change the color section: 

  1. Navigate to the Reviews tab. 
  2. Select Reviews settings
  3. Select Syndication
  4. Under Shopify, select a different widget badge style.
  5. Select Save changes

  • The Shop sync is not immediate. Shop reviews will appear in Shopify around 24 hours after submission. 
  • Shop reviews cannot be moderated, managed, or deleted in Klaviyo. 
  • You can only reply to a Shop review within Shopify, not Klaviyo. 
  • Only review star ratings, body text, and headlines are synced from Shop to Klaviyo. 
  • Shop reviews are not eligible to be included in review quote blocks. 
  • Only reviews that are connected to an order can be synced to Shop (i.e., reviews submitted in response to a review request and reviews with an email address that matches an existing order in Klaviyo). Anonymous reviews, imported reviews, and reviews for orders submitted prior to onboarding with Klaviyo reviews will not be synced to Shop.

Outcome

After the sync is enabled, Shop reviews will appear in Klaviyo, and Klaviyo reviews will appear in Shop. A product’s overall rating in both Shop and Klaviyo will reflect both original and syndicated reviews. These reviews are displayed in your reviews list in Klaviyo, as well as in relevant Klaviyo reviews widgets.
