Learn how to copy your templates and flows from one account so that you can use them in another account.

When you copy a classic editor template from one account to another, the new version will use Klaviyo’s new template editor. Learn more about when templates automatically switch to the new editor.

Before you begin

You must have the proper permissions to transfer templates and flows. You must be able to access these tabs in both accounts for this process to work. For instance, if you are an Admin in one account, but an Analyst in the second account, you will not be able to copy templates.

If you are a contractor or an agency, please ensure that you have permission from the account Owner to copy any flows or templates into a different account.

Flows

  1. Navigate to the Flows tab.
  2. Click the Edit Flow dropdown arrow (not the button itself) to the right of the flow you want to copy.
  3. Select Clone.

Flows tab showing the Edit Flow dropdown menu
  4. Optional: rename of the flow for the new account.
  5. Add the destination account (i.e., the account where the new flow will be copied to.
    • This dropdown will display all potential destination accounts for the flow.
    • If you want to clone the flow within the same account, simply select the account that you are currently working in.
  6. Optional: choose if you want to change the flow's trigger.
    • By default, the trigger will stay the same, but you can change the trigger manually if you so choose.

Changes made to the original flow will not be reflected in the copied flow once you have already created it.

If you are working between accounts that have different branding, make sure to change the email templates in the copied flow before you set it live.

Flows with list-based filters

When you clone a flow into another account, if you have filters related to specific lists (e.g., such as in a welcome series) in the first account, lists with those names will be created in the second account. This will not upload the members of those lists into the other account, but only create empty lists based on the names used in the filters.

In the example below, the flow contains filters related to the lists "VIP List" and "Donor List."

When the flow is cloned into another account, empty lists are created with the names "VIP List" and "Donor List" to match the filters of the cloned flow.

  4. Optional: rename the cloned template.
  5. Select the destination account (i.e.,  the account where the new template will be copied to.
    1. Please note that if you are an Analyst in the second account, you will not be able to copy the template over because you won't have the proper permissions.
