Learn how to create, edit, delete, and manage your email templates in the Email Templates tab.
Create a template
Follow these steps to create a new template.
- From Email Templates click Create Template.
- Select a template to start. You can choose a Basic or Themed template, or you can use one of your existing templates as a starting point or import a custom HTML template.
- Give your template a name.
- Click Create Template.
This takes you to the template editor where you can create your content and save your template.
Edit a template
Follow these steps to edit a template.
- From the Email Templates tab locate the template you want to edit.
- Clicking the title of the template or the left menu and select Edit Template.
This takes you to the template editor where you can edit your content and save your template.
This will not update templates that are in use in your flows or unsent campaigns.
Change the name of a template
From the Email Templates tab locate the template you want to update and select the three dots on the far right-hand side. In the dropdown, you'll be able to change the name of the template when you select Edit Name.

Clone or delete a template
Follow these steps to clone or delete a template.
- From the Email Templates tab locate the template you want to clone or delete.
- Click the dropdown and select the option you want to take.
Save an email as a template
If you're working with either a draft campaign email or a flow email, you can save your email as a template. To save a campaign email as a template:
- Click the Content tab.
- Click the Edit Email dropdown and select Save as Template.
- Enter a name for your template and click Save as Template.
- Your email template is now available in the Email Templates tab.
To save a flow email as a template:
- Click the Message Content tab.
- Click the Edit Content dropdown and select Save as Template.
- Enter a name for your template and click Save as Template.
- Your email template is now available in the Email Templates tab.
Sending templates
In Klaviyo, there are two main ways to send your email templates to your subscribers:
- Use a campaign to send an email template to a group of subscribers at the same time
- Use a flow to send an email template based on when a subscriber does something
Switching templates
If you're working with either a draft campaign email or a flow email, you can change the template you're working with. To switch to a new template in a campaign:
- Click the Content tab.
- Click the Edit Email dropdown and select Change Template.
- Select an option: Drag and Drop, Text Only, or HTML, then select and edit your template.
To switch to a new template in a flow email:
- Click the Message Content tab.
- Click the Edit Content dropdown and select Change Template.
- Select an option: Drag and Drop, Text Only, or HTML, then select and edit your template.
