Learn how to create, edit, delete, and manage your email templates in the Email Templates tab. 

Create a template

Create a template

  1. Navigate to Content > Templates.
  2. Browse the Template library tab and select a base template to use, or click Create a blank email to start from scratch. Alternatively, import a custom HTML template.
  3. Review the template in the modal that appears; then, click Create Template.

This takes you to the template editor where you can create and save your template. 

Edit a template

  1. Navigate to Content > Templates.
  2. Click Saved templates to view your existing templates.
  3. Click the icon of the template you’d like to edit.
  4. Click Use template in the modal that appears.

This takes you to the template editor where you can edit your content and save your template.

This will not update templates that are in use in your flows or unsent campaigns. 

Change the name of a template

  1. Navigate to Content > Templates.
  2. Locate the template you want to update.
  3. Select the three dots on the far right-hand side.
  4. In the dropdown, select Edit Name and rename the template. The Edit Name option for a template
Clone or delete a template

  1. Select Content > Templates > Saved templates to locate the template you want to clone or delete.
  2. Click the dropdown and select the option you want to take (i.e., Clone or Delete).

Deleting a template will not impact any flows or campaigns that use the template. When you use a template email in a flow or a campaign, Klaviyo makes a copy of the template, and it's no longer connected to the template found in your Templates tab. 

Save an email as a template

Save an email as a template

If you're working with either a draft campaign email or a flow email, you can save your email as a template. To save a campaign email as a template: 

  1. Click the Content step from within an existing unsent campaign. 
  2. Click the Edit Email dropdown.
  3. Select Save as Template.

  4. Enter a name for your template and click Save as Template.

Your email template is now available in the Templates tab.

To save a flow email as a template: 

  1. Click the Message Content tab.
  2. Click the Edit Content dropdown.
  3. Select Save as Template.
  4. Enter a name for your template and click Save as Template.

Your email template is now available in the Templates tab.

In Klaviyo, there are 2 main ways to send your email templates to your subscribers: 

  • Use a campaign to send an email template to a group of subscribers at the same time. 
  • Use a flow to send an email template based on when a subscriber does something.

If you're working with either a draft campaign email or any flow email, you can change the template you're working with. 

  1. Click the Content tab within the message (i.e., flow email or unsent campaign).
  2. Click the Edit Email dropdown.
  3. Select Change Template.
  4. Select an option: Drag and Drop, Text Only, or HTML, then select and edit your template.
