Before you begin
Required documents
Australia requires that every business requesting a long code provides certain information. You’ll need to show proof of your business’s:
- Name
- Address
- ID number (i.e., Australian business number)
A commercial registry (or equivalent documentation) can be used as proof of all of the above.

Best practices
From the time you request a long code, it will take around 1 to 3 business days to be approved. Once your request has been approved, your long code will be automatically assigned to your account and it will become your sending number in Australia for all messages going forward.
In the meantime, you should let your SMS recipients know that you will be changing your number. For details, check out this article on how to alert your subscribers about a change in number.
Request an AUS long code in Klaviyo
- Navigate to Account > Settings > SMS
- Go to the Sending Numbers section
- In the line with the Australian flag, click the 3 vertical dots on the right-hand side
- Click either Activate or Change Number
- In the modal, choose Long Code
- Click Next
- Click Exit
Outcome
The long code will be available in 1 to 3 business days.
