Integrate with ExactTarget

Introduction

Klaviyo's ExactTarget integration is designed to help you as you move from ExactTarget to Klaviyo. We don't recommend using both platforms at once other than during the interim period as you make the switch.

Add the ExactTarget Integration

Click on the Integrations tab in the left sidebar of your account; then, navigate to All Integrations and find ExactTarget on the list of available integrations. Click Add Integration. Here, you will be asked to provide the username and password you use to log into ExactTarget.

If you click Advanced Options, you will have the option to:

  • Collect open and click data from your campaigns (highly recommended)
  • Only sync specific lists -- this will allow you to pick the specific lists you want to sync from ExactTarget; otherwise, we will sync all of your lists

After entering in your information, click Connect to ExactTarget. 

Monitor the Klaviyo Sync

To check on your enabled integration, navigate to your Klaviyo account's Lists & Segments tab.

Here, you should begin to see your ExactTarget lists populate in Klaviyo. These lists will be synced with subscribers from your ExactTarget lists.

The following metrics will be synced with Klaviyo:

  • Clicked Email
  • Opened Email
  • Received Email

If you navigate to the Metrics tab of your account you will be able to review this data.

Best Practices

You can use the above engagement metrics to segment your ExactTarget lists in Klaviyo. This will protect your deliverability and ensure that you start off on the right foot by sending exclusively to contacts who want to receive your emails. 

To start, build a segment with the following conditions:

What someone has done or not done >
Opened Email at least once in the last 120 days
OR
Clicked email at least once in the last 120 days

If you're a daily sender, you should send your first week's worth of campaigns to this segment. If you're a bi-weekly sender, you should send your first 2-3 campaigns to this segment.
