Learn what account groups are, and how to create, manage, and delete them within your organization.
What are account groups
Account groups let you create logical clusters of accounts, like folders, and assign users to them at scale. When a new account is added to a group, every user already assigned to that group automatically gains access to it within the organization, according to their assigned permissions. There's no need to update individual user records one at a time.
Account groups can also be used to filter accounts throughout the organization, making it easier to find and work with a specific subset of accounts.
An account can belong to more than 1 group.
Before you begin
You need an existing Klaviyo organization. Learn more about Klaviyo organizations.
To create, manage, or delete account groups, you must be an Org Super Admin or have a custom role with permission to manage organization accounts. The accounts you want to group must already be linked to the organization.
To open Accounts from your organization home page, select Manage accounts in the setup checklist or View linked accounts in the overview.
Create an account group
- On Accounts, click Create group.
- Enter a Group name with at least 2 characters that is not already used by another group in the organization, then click Next.
- Select at least 1 account to add to the group, then click Next.
- Review the group name, selected accounts, and access scope, then click Create group.
If a message says the group was created but its accounts could not be added, use Manage groups to add the accounts to that group.
To assign users to the group, see Manage organization level users.
Add or remove accounts from a group
Removing an account from a group keeps it linked to the organization. Users who only had access to that account through the group lose that access.
- On Accounts, click Manage groups.
- Select the group, choose Add or remove accounts, then click Next.
- Select the checkboxes for accounts you want to add, or clear them for accounts you want to remove. Click Next.
- Review the accounts being added and removed, then click Save changes.
Delete an account group
Deleting a group leaves its accounts linked to the organization. Users who only had access through that group lose access to those accounts. Access granted through another group, the organization, or an individual account assignment remains.
- On Accounts, click Manage groups.
- Select the group, choose the Delete group option, then click the Delete group button.
- Review the warning in the confirmation dialog, then click Delete group to confirm.
Filter accounts by group
On Accounts, select 1 or more groups from the Group filter to show accounts in any of those groups. Click Clear to remove the group and search filters.
