Remix an image in the email editor
You will learn
Use Klaviyo’s Remix tool to transform any image that’s already in an email block. In less than a minute you can swap backgrounds, adjust colors, or add objects — no design software needed. Better creative drives higher click-through-rates and revenue per recipient while saving you production time.
Before you beginBefore you begin
- You must be working in the drag-and-drop **Email Editor**.
- The image block you want to edit must already contain an image. Remix can’t start from an empty block (yet).
- Remix is available in email only; it isn’t in SMS, Push, or Forms today.
- All accounts with editing roles can use Remix; no setup is required.
- Estimated time: **1-3 minutes** per image.
Overview
Remix sends the current image to Klaviyo’s generative-AI service and returns one or more variations based on your prompt. You can:
- change the background,
- recolor or reposition objects,
- add new things and people to an image,
- Remove things and people from an image
- Change facial expressions of people
- iterate until you’re satisfied, then insert the new version directly in the block.
The original stays intact in your library, so you can always revert.
Set it upSet it up
1. Navigate to Templates, Campaigns > Email, or Flows > Email and open your email.
2. Add an image block to your email and populate an image into it, or click into an existing populated image block.
3. Start Remix:
a. In the left-hand sidebar, click Remix below the image preview, or
b. Hover over the image on the canvas and click the ✨ Remix icon in the block toolbar.
4. In the floating Prompt field, describe the change you would like to see (e.g., “replace the background with tropical palm trees”).
• The Submit button enables after you type at least 1 character (max = 1000).
5. Click Submit. A spinner appears with Remixing…
• Tip: Need to stop? Click Cancel in the same banner.
6. When results load, compare: the Original shows on the left; the Remix on the right.
• Click either image to preview full size.
7. Select the version you want. It immediately replaces the image in the block and is saved to Content > Images.
8. (Optional) Refine further: keep the prompt field open, edit or add a new instruction, and click Submit again. Remix always starts from the image you currently have selected.
Warning
If you click into another block or leave the editor while Remix is running, the generation stops and you’ll lose that particular output.
