Overview

OneClickUpsell (OCU) is an app by Zipify that helps you create one-step checkout and post-purchase upsells in your Shopify store. OCU replaces your Shopify checkout screen with an OCU checkout screen. OCU checkout data can be pulled into Klaviyo via integration.

While Klaviyo does not have a built-in integration with OCU, you can still integrate your accounts by using an integration built by OCU. 

This guide will walk you through integrating OCU with Klaviyo and setting up an OCU Abandoned Cart Reminder flow.

Connect OCU to Klaviyo

You'll connect Klaviyo to OCU within the App settings of your Shopify store. To connect with OCU, first, generate a Klaviyo Private API Key.

In Klaviyo, navigate to your Account Settings by clicking the account name at the upper right corner of your Klaviyo account. Then, in the Settings dropdown, choose API Keys.

Now, head over to your Shopify Admin and click the Apps tab. Choose the OCU app. If the OCU app doesn't appear, search available Shopify Apps for OCU and begin the installation.

Walk through the steps of OCU installation: Watch Welcome Video > Create a Funnel > Add Upsell > Configure Appearance > Connect your CRM. Choose Klaviyo as your CRM, and paste your API key.

Proceed through the rest of the OCU installation. When you complete installation, OCU and Klaviyo should be connected. To fully leverage the OCU integration, you'll need to create an OCU-triggered abandoned cart flow.

Create an OCU Abandoned Cart Review Flow

Klaviyo makes it easy to leverage OCU data by providing a pre-built OCU Abandoned Cart Reminder flow in your Flows Library. Abandoned cart flow which is customized for OCU data. The OCU Abandoned Cart Reminder flow is triggered by the Started Checkout (OCU) metric, and is intended to replace your standard Shopify Abandoned Cart series flow which is triggered by Shopify's Started Checkout metric. 

You may prefer to use your existing abandoned cart flow instead of using the pre-built OCU Abandoned Cart Reminder flow. Keep in mind that flow triggers cannot be changed for an existing flow, but flows can be easily cloned with a new flow trigger applied. If you choose to clone your existing abandoned cart flow, be sure to select Checkout Started (OCU) as the flow trigger.

Let's create an OCU Abandoned Cart Reminder flow from the flow library. Navigate to the Flows tab, and select Browse Ideas on the upper right to access the Flow Library.

Type OCU into the search field to find the OCU Abandoned Cart Reminder flow. Select this flow.

Notice that the flow trigger is the Checkout Started (OCU) metric. Customize each flow email by embedding dynamic OCU data. See the following section for details on how to do this.

Activate the new abandoned cart flow by turning each flow email live. Your new OCU Abandoned Cart Reminder flow will be notated in green in the flows section.  

Delete or deactivate the old abandoned cart flow. Deactivate the flow if you want to retain historic data. Since flows are not turned "off," you can deactivate the flow by pausing each flow emailDelete the flow if you don't mind losing the historic data. 

Customize Abandoned Cart Emails with Dynamic OCU Data

Abandoned cart emails are customized with dynamic checkout data. Since you're now using OCU checkout data, you'll need to incorporate OCU's dynamic checkout data into these emails.

Data Synced into Klaviyo

OCU metrics are synced by API, so an API icon is associated with each OCU metric. In addition, OCU conveniently adds the text (OCU) at the end of each of their metrics. This makes it easy to identify and select an OCU metric when creating a segment or flow filter. 

You can view all metrics in your Klaviyo account in the Metrics tab. On the upper-right, select API from the dropdown. Note all the metrics with an (OCU) notation. 

We've already seen the Checkout Started (OCU) metric that can be used in the OCU Abandoned Cart Reminder flow.  In addition, OCU syncs the following data to Klaviyo:

For customers who did not complete their orders and received the "Checkout Started (OCU)" metric:

  • Last Abandoned Cart Item1 Names (OCU) (from 1 to 5)
  • Last Abandoned Cart Quantity1 (OCU) (from 1 to 5)
  • Last Abandoned Cart Price1 (OCU) (from 1 to 5)
  • Last Abandoned Cart Image1 URLs (OCU) (from 1 to 5)
  • Last Abandoned Cart Subtotal (OCU)
  • Last Abandoned Cart Date (OCU)
  • Last Abandoned Cart Restore URL (OCU)
  • Accepts Marketing (OCU)
  • Phone Number (OCU)

For customers who completed their orders and received the "Checkout Completed (OCU)" metric:

  • Last Placed Order Item1 Name (OCU) (from 1 to 5)
  • Last Placed Order Quantity1 (OCU) (from 1 to 5)
  • Last Placed Order Price1 (OCU) (from 1 to 5)
  • Last Placed Order Image1 URLs (OCU) (from 1 to 5)
  • Last Placed Order Cart Subtotal (OCU)
  • Last Placed Order Date (OCU)
  • Accepts Marketing (OCU)
  • Phone Number (OCU)

For customers who completed their orders AND purchased offer item(s) who received the "Checkout Completed With Offers (OCU)" metric:

  • Last Purchased Offer Item Name (OCU)
  • Last Purchased Offer Price (OCU)
  • Last Purchased Offer Image URL (OCU)
  • Last Purchased Offer Date (OCU)
  • Accepts Marketing (OCU)
  • Phone Number (OCU)

Remember that when you use OCU with Shopify, you replace your Shopify checkout with an OCU checkout. When a customer lands on an OCU Checkout page, OCU sends checkout data back into Shopify via integration. When you've enabled both an OCU+Shopify integration and a Klaviyo+OCU integration, you may see duplicate purchase information in a customer's profile.

For example, you might see both of these on a customer's timeline when a customer buys a product:

  • OCU Ordered Product event(API icon): This customer made a purchase on an OCU checkout page which synced to Klaviyo via integration.
  • Shopify Ordered Product event (Shopify icon): OCU passed the purchase data over to Shopify which synced to Klaviyo via integration 

How to Use the OCU Integration

Create a Flow Using OCU Data

Businesses use their OCU data to trigger an abandoned cart flow in Klaviyo. This is an example of how you can set this up:

  1. Design and implement an OCU Checkout Page which is integrated with Klaviyo.
  2. Set up an OCU Abandoned Cart Reminder flow which is triggered by the Checkout Started (OCU) metric.
  3. When a customer visits your product's checkout page > starts checkout > enters their email address > and abandons their cart, a Started Checkout (OCU) metric is pushed to Klaviyo which triggers an abandoned cart flow.

Create a Campaign Using OCU Data

You can use any OCU metric to segment your customers and send a customized campaign to them. For example, use the OCU metric Last Placed Order Price1 (OCU) (value from 1 to 5) to segment your customers based on their purchase value, and create a campaign for your on high-rollers (Price5 ), or encourage smaller spenders Price1) with an enticing campaign featuring discounts or coupons.
